Twin Hills will be hosting an AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) www.ajga.org event August 7-11. The AJGA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.
The AJGA participants have to earn their way into each tournament based on Performance Stars based on their finishes in state, regional and national level junior tournaments as well as AJGA qualifiers and tournaments. So, these events bring the best of the best to our community from all over the country.
The impact for our community will be very significant. These players and their families will stay in Joplin for 5-6 nights and will be finished playing each day about 3:00. Leaving time to explore and use our great restaurants and family spaces.
Rick Brown with Roper Honda (www.roperhonda.com) agrees that it will be a special event for Joplin and Twin Hills. So much so, he has pledged to be the Title sponsor of the event. Satterlee Plumbing, Heat and Air (www.satterleeplumbing.com) has also pledged for sponsorship and without this type of support, these tournaments would not happen.
In addition, we will host a Junior-Am on Monday, August 8th. This is your chance to tee it up with golf’s next generation while also contributing to a worthy cause. Just look at some of the alumni that have worked their career though the AJGA.
There will be a local qualifier for participants Monday, July 31st. Twin Hills will offer 3 spots into the event as exemptions. Two boys spots and one girl spot.
